File uploads

Collect documents and images safely, restricted to the formats you choose.

Restrict formats

For every file question, choose the allowed formats. You can pick whole groups or single extensions:

Example: a CV question restricted to pdf and docx rejects anything else — even a renamed file — with a clear message.

Limits

  • Max files per question: 1–20.
  • Max size per file: up to your plan limit (Free 5 MB, Pro 50 MB). You can set a lower limit per question.
  • Storage: Free 250 MB, Pro 20 GB in total.

How files are protected

  1. The file type is checked from its content (magic bytes), not just its name.
  2. Optional malware scanning with ClamAV rejects infected files.
  3. File names are sanitized and the file is encrypted (AES-256-GCM) before it is stored.
  4. Uploads are single-use: an upload can only be attached to one submission, and unused uploads are deleted after 24 hours.
  5. Downloads are only available to the form owner and are always served as attachments.

Downloading files

Open a response and click a file to download it. Exports list file names; use the API to fetch file contents programmatically.
